Fred Begun is a Partner in the San Jose office of Borton Petrini, LLP. He received his Bachelors of Science degree from San Francisco State University in 1985 and earned his Juris Doctorate from Santa Clara University in 1988. Fred’s current practice as a San Jose lawyer focuses on family law and estate planning.
Before joining the firm, Fred was a sole practitioner for 16 years, emphasizing family law, including dissolution, custody, visitation, child support, spousal support, property division, paternity, pre-nuptials, and post-judgment modifications. Later in his practice, Fred added estate planning, focusing on the drafting of wills, trusts, advanced healthcare directives, and powers of attorney.
Prior to private practice, Fred was the General Manager and Corporate Counsel for a clothing manufacturer and wholesaler. As a San Jose lawyer, Fred has experience in handling matters in business organization and liquidation, various litigation matters including construction, civil and business litigation, as well as insurance defense and personal injury.
Fred is active in his community, both as a Rotarian, serving on the Rotary Foundation Board, as well as various other fundraising and social committees. He is also on the board at the Recovery Café San Jose, a young non-profit entity that seeks to help with alternate programs for homeless, rehab, and reentry members.
Fred is married to Shari Mordhorst Begun, who is a regional sales manager in the semi-conductor industry.
