Community Spotlight – Sarah Ornelas

Borton Petrini’s Community Spotlight – United Samaritans Foundation

Partner Sarah Ornelas, of our Modesto office, first volunteered with the United Samaritans Foundation (“USF”) in high school.  Now, years later, she is the Secretary of the Board of Directors for the Organization.  Sarah recently took some time to tell us more about her experience with USF.

Why did you get involved with the Board of Directors for USF? I had just relocated back to the Central Valley after working across the country for a number of years.  I was looking for a way to get back involved with the community.  Given my prior experience with USF as a teenager, USF was my first choice.

What inspires you most about the USF’s work? The staff and volunteers.  Without them the USF could not continue to provide meals and clothing to those in need.

What is your most memorable moment with USF?   USF has food trucks that delivers lunches throughout Stanislaus County.  My first time on a food truck was a complete eye opener.  I was about sixteen years old and had no idea of the level of poverty in my own community.

What are ways that members of the community can support this organization? Volunteer your time, donate your clothes/food or assist with monetary donations.  Currently, Borton Petrini, LLP’s Modesto location is sponsoring a hats, gloves and socks drive.  All items collected through December 18, 2020 will be delivered to USF.  Small donations of your time, materials or money can have a huge impact on this organization’s continued success.

To donate to the United Samaritans Foundation, you could bring Socks, Gloves, and Hats to the Modesto Branch of Borton Petrini, or you can donate directly to the USF, they are currently in need of warm clothes and blankets. Click the link below to learn more:
