George F. Martin is “Of Counsel” to the statewide law firm of Borton Petrini, LLP, where he served as Firm Managing Partner for more than a quarter century. George practices in the areas of land use and governmental relations, personal injury, and business litigation and is listed as a Super Lawyer in the area of real estate law. He acts as a mediator and arbitrator in his areas of expertise having tried and evaluated thousands of cases during his career.

 

George is the recipient of the Kern County Bar Association’s highest award, the Bench and Bar award. He is keenly interested in education having served on the Board of Trustees and as Dean of California Pacific School of Law and was Chairman of the California State University Bakersfield Foundation Board of Directors and of the Witkin Legal Institute’s Advisory Board. He is also a former Chairman and member of the Board of Directors of the Central California Heart Institute.

 

George frequently lectures to legal and business organizations and was formerly the host of The Borton Petrini Business Hour on talk radio. He has written numerous legal articles and contributed to California Education for the Bar publications as well as serving as Editor-In-Chief of Verdict Journal of Law, California Defense Journal, California Business Journal, and for years served as the editor of the Insurance Bar List annual summary of California Law. George believes that his involvement in local business associations and civic affairs is very helpful to his real estate, land use, healthcare and government relations practice by knowing and understanding the people who make up Kern County. He has served on many local boards including the Greater Bakersfield Chamber of Commerce (Past President), Greater Bakersfield Memorial Hospital, the Bakersfield Heart Hospital, Kern Economic Development Corporation, the Chamber of Commerce Political Action Committee, Kern County Taxpayers’ Association, and California State University of Bakersfield Business Advisory Board.
