Alena M. Herranen is of counsel to the law firm of Borton Petrini, LLP. She is a business attorney with 20 years experience in the areas of business transactions, intellectual property, and tax law. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of California at Davis in 1985 and her Juris Doctor from the University of San Diego School of Law in 1992. After passing the California Bar exam in 1992, Alena pursued her graduate studies in tax at the University of San Diego School of Law, where she earned a Master of Laws in Taxation in 1993. She then studied business at the University of San Diego School of Business and earned a Masters in Business Administration in 1994.
A resident of San Diego since 1989, Alena has been involved in the community as a board member, officer, member, and volunteer for many local nonprofit organization including the San Diego Ninety-Nines, Inc., the Southwest Section of the Ninety-Nines, Inc., Art of Elan, LeTip of La Jolla, Clairemont Chamber of Commerce, San Diego Business Services Alliance, USD Graduate Business Alumni Association, San Diego Academy of Ballet, Inc., San Diego Civic Youth Ballet, several public schools, and most recently, the San Diego Opera. She believes that community involvement serves the important purpose of strengthening the community and enriching individuals.
Alena enjoys diverse adventures from backpacking and aviation to opera and chamber music. Alena pursues these experiences together with her husband Frederik and her three daughters, Sierra, Savannah, and Seleste.
