David A. Scharlach is Senior Counsel in the Sacramento office of Borton Petrini, LLP. David has been an attorney for the past 32 years, specializing in mold litigation defense, HR/FH compliance, commercial leases, premises liability, personal injury and construction defect .

For a number of years, David worked as a sole practitioner. His practice focused primarily on real property acquisition and management. He recently served for three years as California litigation counsel for a multi-state property management company. In the position, he oversaw legal activity for approximately 10,000 rental units and $48 million in annual revenue. David holds a current California Real Estate Broker’s License.

David has served the community by presenting a number of lectures to members of the Sacramento Rental Housing Association regarding new laws, mold litigation defense and mitigation, and unlawful detainers. He also participated in presentation to employers and insurance adjusters on workers’ compensation law and fraud. David also served as a Registered Lobbyist for the Automobile Club of Southern California. In addition to authoring and supporting numerous pieces of legislation dealing with rules of the road, automobile and property insurance, he traveled the state with the CHP, DMV and Judicial Council presenting new law seminars to DMV and Superior Court personnel.

At Borton Petrini, LLP, David’s primary areas of practice are real estate law, professional liability, premises liability, personal injury litigation and construction defect litigation.

Outside the Firm, David has been past President of the San Francisco Amateur Astronomers and of Silverado Soaring, an FAA rated glider pilots club. David, who was an Eagle Scout himself, is also actively involved in the Boy Scouts and is a docent for the Sacramento Valley Conservancy.
