Karen D. Milam is an attorney in the San Bernardino office of Borton Petrini, LLP. Karen did undergraduate work at UCLA and graduated from California Southern Law School in 1998 in the top 5% of her class. During law school, she worked for County Counsel in Riverside, specializing in land use and appeared before the Riverside Board of Superivors on behalf of Riverside County. She began her career as an attorney at Carroll, Kelly and Trotter in Long Beach in 1998. In her second year of practice, she tried cases as a pro bono prosecutor for the City of Fullerton. Since that time, trial practice has continued to be an interest and highlight of her career.

In September of 2000, she returned to her roots in the Inland Empire as a Senior Associate for Elliot, Snyder & Reid, specializing in complex litigation and insurance defense. In 2006, she expanded her career to litigating in the federal court system and was sworn in to the Unified States Supreme Court bar on April 4, 2007.

Karen has authored numerous briefs to the 9th Circuit, the California Supreme Court, and United States Supreme Court and has had successful cases cite in Westlaw. Karen’s primary area of practice with Borton Petrini, LLP is civil litigation, labor and employment law, estate planning, healthcare law, and land use.

Over the years, Karen has given numerous seminars on the legal issues confronting churches and HIPPA compliance for medical facilities. Outside the office, she spends her time with friends and family.
